Jewel tones

A new week, a new runway show these days!...

The house of Versace was the first cab off the rank last night with their offering for Haute Couture Fall 2013 - dark, jewel tones of emerald, sapphire, bordeaux and of course black, slithering down the catwalk in layered sheer gowns, knitted cropped tops and embellished tailored coats.

I love the dark palette, and the sequinned sheer gowns... but the midriff baring cropped knits just don't fit in my wardrobe unfortunately!  (not since the early 90's! haha)...

Obviously midriffs will be bared long after summer is gone... (I'm going back to my dessert now - a bowl of tiramisu)!

But this colour below is absolutely gorgeous...

In The Schedule

Hope you all had a wonderfully refreshing weekend... here are some links that I was wandering through during last week.  And refreshing being the theme...

Alexander McQueen Dress, Azzaro Leather Gloves, Givenchy Suede Clutch / Ph Kevin Sinclair
+  What's your tip for wearing a peplum?  Let's refresh with these gorgeous looks cover flounced softness on dresses and structured flares on jackets - more than enough inspiration for you waistline!... via FGR

Aurelio Costarella Dress / Ph Holly Blake

+ Some behind the scenes shots taken during the recent Myer Spring Fashion launch via Style Me Romy.  Love these gorgeous Aurelio Costarella gowns!

Tom Ford Dress

+   I admit, I'm an avid Downton Abbey viewer... can't wait for the series return!  And my favourite character is Lady Mary played by Michelle Dockery, seen here in the pages of Harpers Bazaar September issue.   A refreshing look from the delicate, beaded, lacy gowns from the halls of Downton Abbey.   How does one get skin so clear and luminous, isn't she just stunning?  ... via

Versace Haute Couture / Illustration Lotty Rose
+  During the recent Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, online fashion site Trendland invited UK illustrator Lotty Rose to attend the shows and document the weeks proceedings with her fashion illustrations.   Capturing outfits from the catwalks of Armani Prive, Bouchra Jarrar, Versace with a blend of colour, whimsy, and elegance.  More images here via Trendland.  Talk about a dream job!

+  A complete master bedroom update from Cup of Mai with the addition of a little bits of yellow and a zhush... voila - a completely different vibe.  An easy refresh for Spring!

Wishing you a great start to the week ahead xx...

Glamourzon Monday

Feeling a bit flat after an average Monday start to the week?  Well considering this week is the start of Haute Couture week in Paris, there is surely to be something to perk you up and send you floating on air of chiffon, lace and intricate handworked gowns to another place - a place far, far away.

Versace set off the schedule last night sending models down a catwalk in an homage to the typical Gianni glamourzon girl.

Sheen, sparkle, lace, gauze, chiffon and sheer floated down the runway with models looking spectacular in all their glossy wavy-ness emulating modern day Veronica Lake's and Lauren Bacall's.  Seriously how do they get their hair so smooth and glossy!

There will surely be a gown here for Angelina to pick out when she weds her beau later this year in France - most gowns slit to thigh-high and proud of it!

More spectacular images here.

Versace for H&M collection

These images of the new Versace collaboration with H&M (photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott) just transported me back to the early 90's.  The colours, the images, the greek key symbols, the sexy cuts and the bold prints, everything just reminds of those fabulous iconic shots by Richard Avedon during Gianni Versace's reign on the catwalk and in homewares (remember them?)

Christy, Linda, Naomi, Stephanie, Claudia, Nadja, Cindy and Amber took turns individually or all together to bring their glamour and humour to each shot.  (Don't forget it was the time of George Michael's Freedom video - gotta love that!)

This new collection is modelled by Sasha Pivovarova, Daphne Groenevald, and Lindsey Wixson.  Impeccably crafted, very strong images!

As Donatella says "...its rock 'n' roll..."!

Now...

and then...
