Azzedine Alaia Haute Couture, A/W 2012

Showing to a very select few clients, fans and press, from his studio/home/headquarters in the Marais district in Paris, and after an absence of 8 years from the runways, he produced a collection that displayed his mastery of the body conscious silhouettes he is famous for.

Luxurious wool felted coats that are nipped in at the waist and curved the hips; soft croc stamped leather jackets; zippers placed at hip level for a different detail; long dresses with tiered flounces which are actually knits.  Having worked for 30 years with the same knitting mill in Italy he certainly understands how to manipulate and coax the fabric into a gentle, flowing, flattering gown.  Just beautiful.

I have a feeling that the knit dress will surely prevail in the coming season/s.
