Situated in a Melbourne's South Yarra, this gorgeous home has been renovated and extended bringing the Edwardian flourishes of last century up to date by adding an ample extension, finishes like wood and concrete externally, floor to ceiling windows, and a fabulous array of modern art and bits that has been collected by the owners.   Nixon Tulloch Fortey Architecture were the designers on hand who helped to make this ex Boarding house complete with vaulted ceiling in the dining room, current.

Glossy dark floors, bright colourful furnishings, luxe marble bathrooms, whimsical artworks from accomplished modern art to kids school artwork and memorabilia picked up from travels, add to the feeling of warmth and familiarity.

I love those citrus Thonet chairs and that concrete topped island in the kitchen; but the house also comes with a 'conversation pit' complete with shag pile underfoot and a Jacobsen Egg chair in front of the fireplace.  The owners loved the conversation pit at the Heide II house  at the Heide Gallery and asked the designers to sit there so that they could capture the same modernist tone.

It's a wonderfully playful, and oh so chic home... I love it!
