It's finally cooled down over here (yay) so that means no more perching oneself in front of the air conditioner and trying to avoid frizzy hair with the heat and humidity outside.  Fingers crossed for a quiet and relaxing weekend and a brunch with friends and sharing my favourite Tarte au citron!

+  Loved this dreamy looking editorial Karl Lagerfeld lensed for the April issue of Vogue Germany with his muse Stella Tennant channelling a decidely 'fin de siecle' drama and grace.  More images here.

 + Speaking of Karl...this is the funniest interview with Karl Lagerfeld the day after the Chanel Fall 2013 runway by Laura Brown of US Harpers Bazaar - there's dryness, wit, tongue in cheek and a little bit of control freak going on - you can be the judge.  Karl talks about being 'beyond temptation', eating only steamed vegetables and fish, a resemblance to Angelina Jolie, and what he would do if he were invisible for day.  Very funny stuff.  More here via Pages Digital.

+  A little more Chanelness... the 'Inside Chanel' series takes us 'Inside the Jacket'.  Archival footage of the birth of the iconic Chanel boucle jacket, what bought it's masculine/feminine appeal to light, and how Madame Chanel revolutionised women's wardrobes from it's inception.  You can also view some original drawings from King Karl himself.  Via here.

+ Speaking of illustrations, take a look at archival drawings by Jeanne Lanvin for her first children's line which caused a 'frenzy' when introduced early last century.  Refined and sweet (my childhood never looked like this!), they certainly hark back to another era with the handmade collection featuring bows, ribbons, frills, daisy patterns and classic lines. +  The rise of the Hollywood Stylist... like all things fashion who could predict that today's stylist are as 'big' and well known as the celebrities they dress.  Well there's even a top 25 list according to the Hollywood Reporter here.   Well even the stylists look super styled next to their client don't you think (look at J.Lo's gorgeous looking stylists!).

+  But if you would like to align your style with a Gallic bent, then look no further than this Hardback title, French Style by Assouline.  I love the blurb..."With dynamic photographs juxtaposing concepts from haute couture and scientific advancements to pop stars and popular culture, French Style is as sophisticated as the nation it celebrates"... awww and I thought we were sophisticated over here?

+ And then to end the weekend, I'm going to look at this scrumptious Dark Chocolate Chiffon cake with Rosewater frosting and just admire it... no eating, no baking,... just look.  After all,  I've got a decidely frenchy, looking good in what you wear kind of theme going on today!  But if you'd like recipe then head over to Sweetapolita for a fix!

Hello Friday... I'm so looking forward to the weekend with just a few things in my diary to catch up on.  Hope you can find some time to catch up on these fun links I found this week too...

+  Love these illustrations and collages that Christian Lacroix produced after the recent runway shows in Paris for Tank Magazine.  Colour, whimsy, wit and fun ... Lanvin, Margiela, Dior with a loving Lacroix stamp.  More images here.

+  A sophisticated urban editorial for the November issue of Harpers Bazaar Turkey, photographed by Ahmet Unver.  Sinewy silhouettes, dark colourways, gorgeous textures... more images here via FGR.

+  Speaking of dark colourways... The most sophisticated, elegant entrance in the beautiful home of Melbourne designer Chelsea Hing and photographer Nik Epifanidis.  Love everything about this home, the moody wall colour, touches of metallic and the decadent & dramatic touches here and there.  Just beautiful... more images here via DesignFiles.

+ Some vintage images by photographer Rose Hartman from the 1970's and 80's for her book 'Incomparable: Women Of Style" ... having access to parties and events for Vanity Fair, Vogue & Harpers Bazaar, Rose rubbed shoulders with Jerry Hall, Bianca Jagger, Diana Vreeland, Anna Wintour... Carefree, stylish, vivacious and decadent as only the 70 & 80's could be.  More images via NYMag.

+ Fashionista gives us a summary of catwalk colour and preferences in New York, London, Paris & Milan based on the recent A/W 2013 shows.  I think Melbourne is very much like London... mostly darker hues... although personally I can relate to Milan - a little more yellow!  Check it out here.

+  I loved watching this video of the W Mag team capturing a Who's Who of designers, artists, celebrities that they've had grace the pages of the magazine over the last 40 years.  Photographed during the recent A/W 2013 shows from New York to Milan and in between,  it would have been a huge task just scheduling everybody in on the same city let alone the same day for photography.  I spy, Karl, Donna, Carolina, Nicholas, Olivier... etc, etc... who can you see?  Can you imagine the conversations in the queue waiting to be photographed?   View video here.

+  Ada, you'll like this one...Talk about capturing something special, a 1 minute video of designer Jeanne Lanvin putting the final touches on a collection in her headquarters in Paris in the 1940's.  Sometimes things don't change much at all ... when you look at the long tables of seamstresses working diligently on the garments and their alterations.  This is so gorgeous but all to brief... via Fashionologie here.

+ Isn't this scrumptious!?  Please click on the link to Chez Bogato in Paris and transported into cake heaven!  This has got to be one of the most delicious looking places to visit... I can feel my tummy expanding already.

Another week over and another fashion week comes to and end... but if you've missed anything don't  forget London Fashion week starts today - I trust there will be something there to tickle your fancy...

+  And speaking of tickling your fancy, an extravagant editorial featuring actress Jennifer Lawrence in the pages of WMag by one of my favourite photographers Tim Walker.  Feathers, tulle, embroidery and birds...

+ A short film by Chanel as an homage to Irwin Blumenfeld for their new release Rouge Allure range via Vogue fr here.

+  Take a look inside the design eye of Sydney's Pamela Makin and you will find bold graphic lines, contrasting palettes and tactile objects that have a rich patina-ed history from all corners of the world.  Featured in the latest issue of Est Magazine (here); you can also check out her website Les Interieurs.  Its a beautiful world!

+  I have a confession to make, I do own a little Bulgari... but if I could possibly add to it with a little something from these archived pieces... like say, that clutch on the bottom right?  (I'm not even going to ask for those emerald earrings attached to Liz Taylor!)    Pretty please... +  I love the look of this latest Laduree offering in all it's whimsy and colour.  The perfect marriage of macaroons and the house of Lanvin - via DailyMail.

+  But if you can't get your hands on that box of goodies, I found this absolutely sweet macaroon hideaway in Melbourne!  Isn't that just so much easier?... mmmm I'm heading into the city this weekend and I think I  should visit La Belle Miette to check out their range of delicacies!

+  To all the mums.. if you're not partial to gender specific pinks and blues,  I found this range of unisex kids clothing so sweet - it's got a cool 60's feel that I really like!  Via ESPN here.  Isn't this guy so cute... just like a really young Alain Delon?  

+ To the travellers out there, if you're looking for a guide to Paris to keep with you on your trip to City of Lights and Lovers, then you must add this book My Little Paris to packing list for your travels, found via Bobochic here.  Gorgeous illustrations, the latest venues you must visit, maps of arrondisements and where to shop within them, oh a great video on how the idea came about - very cute.

+  And finally, just because you can't get front row at those pesky fashion shows now running, this is for you - UK label Topshop, has come up with this great way to integrate consumer, viewer, fan, budding designer into their upcoming London Show with customizing a live streaming of their show.  You can pick the colour of the outfit before it comes down - don't know how that's going to work but it says heaps about getting the customer involved and offering a new way of looking at fashion in these days of easily logging on and purchasing on-line without any interaction or much interest! + A fabulously glamourous and intense editorial via Fashion Gone Rogue - kinda reminds me of the Serge Lutens campaigns for Shiseido in the 80's... Love those wine coloured lips. 

+  Channelling a certain Grace on the red carpet at Cannes perhaps?  More pics over at Style.com.  That seafoam Giambattista Valli gown on Diane Kruger is absolutely STUNNING!  And how beautiful is Ines De La Fressange - I love the addition of that ivy as belt.

+ An interview with Francisco Costa talking about his early years, his inspiration, the new range of Calvin Klein dresses for Macys and channelling that Brazilian laid back vibe and sunkissed palette via Tmagazine.

+  Check out these gorgeous headquarters of new homewares label Aerin..., yep, that's the influence of Aerin Lauder and her new venture into homewares, via AD.  Also take a look at the Aerin tumblr site here.  I think it'll be slightly glamourous don't you?
