Out and About

Gosh is it that time already!... I feel like it's no use staying indoors these days with temperatures warming up outside, not even a silly bug could slow you down.

Up and at em... just finishing up on some christmas shopping, decorating at home and coming up with entertaining ideas for the holidays!  I'm exhausted already!...

These photos of Alessandra Ambrosio by Giles Bensimon remind me of those classic 80's images of Elle McPherson out and about on a sunny beach somewhere in Far North Queensland; as I've already visited there earlier this year, it might have to wait until next year sometime.  Lucky the warmer weather has hit our fair city this week!

Bare arms, a sun hat and a cool cotton shirt await!

Monday & The Chic Outdoors

Hello new week... with a warm and sunny weekend behind us I thought I need to amp up the outdoors factor with chic take on summer style.

Love this editorial featured in Marie Claire Brazil August edition, with Marcelia Freesz looking quite stunning and vibrant in the outdoors.

Precious Monday

The last few days of summer are still with us... this time of year is so precious, especially if you have a long weekend (like today) and the weather is still warm.

It's a public holiday here today (Labour day), and when it's still hitting early 30's on the barometer there's is really only one thing for it... head to the beach.

I spent a lovely morning at the beach today before the crowds set in; followed by a latte and a french vanilla slice.  I would have loved to show a photo of the vanilla slice - but, oh well... it's gone...

Instead some beachy inspiration from US Harpers Bazaar (March 2014)... so I wasn't as glamourously dressed but, the sky and the water were certainly that blue this morning!

Enjoy a lovely start to the week.

A postcard...

A quick postcard from where I'm holidaying (the second part of the holiday)... desserted beaches, fine sand, blue skies, a family of kangaroos at the front door, homemade strawberry tarts and pumpkin pizza... = relaxation... okay so there is also a little bit of Sauvignon Blanc somewhere in the middle of all that too.

See you next week; I feel like I've been gone for ages - have I missed something?..

Is it hot where you're at?

It's getting hot in here...

Hope you've all been able to get back into a normal week after festivities of the Christmas & New Year's season.  It's a scorching hot few days here in Melbourne (today it's expected to reach 41degrees),  and so it's time to pack the car and make our way out of town where the days will be filled with lounging about, splashing around in a pool, walks by the beach and maybe some surfing (no, not me!)...I might even pack some pencils, paints and brushes?...oh, and someone else will be doing the cooking and I won't have a problem deciding which dish to choose...

Have a wonderful weekend/week everyone - I'm outta here...

PS:  don't feel sad for me because I can't surf or that my hair will frizz up defying gravity as soon as it is touched by seaspray...I'll be fine! (wink:))

The beach that goes on and on and on

Yay, it's summer holidays

One last dip...

Surfs up...

Oh how to choose- between the dish doing the cooking and the dish being served?

In The Schedule

What a busy week... a great week... productive and interesting.  With many events planned for the weeks ahead before christmas (yeah, I know 6 weeks or something), I've met with friends over brunch, and bumped into others at unexpected outings and re-visited old acquaintances - it's been fun!  But I have had some time to find some really cool links this week (wouldn't think of letting you all down...)  Hope you enjoy them -

+  A look at some really cool backstage video before the shows at Balmain (above), Rodarte, Loewe, and more over at Self Service.  Get up close with last minute adjustments at Balmain (I love these 80's earrings above!), see Karlie Kloss working her Rodarte dress for the cameras, and admire the intricacies of the Loewe appliqued leathers.   View here.

+  Speaking of great looking jewellery, take a first look at the new Bottega Veneta jewellery line as worn by various artists, models, celebrities (above Garance Dore), captured by Patrick Demarchelier.  More images at NyMag here.

+ I love how Marion Cotillard moves from elegant Parisienne to edgy fashionista to kooky otherworldly character - just seems too easy for her.  Here she is in an interview and cover shot in WMag and photographed by Tim Walker in an array of costumes.

+ Keep it simple with some inspiration from Le Smoking, simple black and white for an anything but minimal wardrobe.  Photographed by Gregory Harris for Interview Magazine here.

+  You've all seen the over the top images from last week's Victoria Secret show in NY, perhaps you might have missed the amazing shoes that were designed by Nicholas Kirkwood for the show... more images via Fashionologie.

+ No it's not the latest digital print from Mary Katranzou or Peter Pilotto... it's me!  Well, let's take a step back... its an amazing bit of digital imagery capturing 'silk drawings' as you click (here)  and drag your mouse across the screen as you pre select a symmetry option and colourway.  A bit of fun to add to your day and very, very time consuming!  Found via the awesome Automatism.

+  How delicious does this look!?   Spinach and Feta lasagne recipe on A Merry Mishap - I must try this soon!  yumm....

+  I will make sure I try on some new swimsuits for this coming summer BEFORE I take one bite of that Feta & Spinach lasagne, because...well, you know how it is - changing room mirrors being what they are, you need all the help you can get right!  First I will take a look at the new We Are Handsome lookbook and narrow down the field before I attempt to dis-robe!  Aaah, summer what are you doing to me!   More images via Harpers Bazaar Aus here.

I'm visiting friends this weekend for a lazy lunch and having a bit of a christmas shop (not finished yet!)... Just like every woman out there... heaps to do... so how to be inspired... turn up the volume with some Chaka Khan (I'm Every Woman)... and DANCE!   If only you could hear/see me now!!!

Have a good one x...

Open Door

This view has transported me atop a hill with a sunny breeze and a none too shabby lookout over the ocean.  Love the way the painting mirrors that perspective too.

Just gives new meaning to an 'Open Door' policy don't you think?...
