The outlook is sunny...

I'm sitting here looking out the window and watching the rain and lightning move through the area (that's Melbourne for you!).  Whatever the view, I love the fact that I can sit at the table and have a direct view to the weather outside, come rain, chill or shine.

That's why I love both these images below- the spacious living areas, the black powdered coated window frames, the loads of natural light, the subtle textures & palettes ... yet they are so different in what they offer.

The first, a hint of summer with the sun high in the sky and little direct sunlight inside on the furniture, an indoor palm, the cool floorboards underneath, the dappled light through the canopy of trees outside.

The second, an autumn chill and the sun lower with lots of sun and long shadows inside, the fireplace with that fabulous stone wall feature, the hermes blanket (of course), and fir trees in the distance.

Which one suits your place, come rain, chill or shine?

My dream house has some of that going on ... and a fireplace, of course.

Simple, welcoming and comfortable. I second what Lisa said; I dream of fireplaces.

I will go for the fireplace, for sure! Because those large windows remind me of a very chill conference room where I spend a couple of hours freezing. I like big windows, most of the living room to have walls of glass, but I imagine those rooms to be cold. But the fireplace will solve this problem, right? And, of course, the blanket :D

The second one suits me better. I wouldn't mind the Hermès blanket either. :)

I do love the light streaming into the room in the second pic; also the open fireplace is beautiful xx

I love the light airy-ness of these two places - they're just gorgeous!
